Epic! Lots of useful info on rippin ridesI live in Seattle, WA and this book contains tons of useful info on all the resorts within a day or two drive. I particularly like the write-up on Mt. Baker and the yearly legendary Banked Slalom Event. George Dobis, owner of Mt. Baker Snowboard Shop, is definitely a must visit if ever in the town of Glacier, WA (17 miles from the Baker ski area). Bring him some Coors beer and you will be friends for life! Great Book Jimbo and Sean!

Brothers Of The Heart : A Story Of The Old Northwest 18371838
Published in Paperback by Aladdin Library (October, 1993)

Good historical fiction for young peopleI liked this book and will be using it this coming school year with my 5th grade students. It is an excellent book that focuses on self esteem, persistence, and acceptance of others with handicaps. However, it appears to be confusing for the fifth grade reading level. The advanced vocabulary and lack of flow because of the use of letters within the text makes me believe the reading level is probably at about eighth grade (12-14 years old). For younger students, it could be used with the teacher reading it to the students.

Cal 98 the Maritime Northwest Garden Guide: A Year-Round Organic Gardening Planning Calendar
Published in Paperback by Tilth (February, 1998)
Average review score:

Maritime Northwest Garden GuideAs a newcomer to the Northwest, I was delighted and relieved to find the Maritime Northwest Garden Guide. It is a planting calendar for year-round organic gardening and so much more. Growing in this climate is so vastly different from my experiences in the Midwest that sometimes I felt like a complete novice. Month-by-month, the Garden Guide provides a nearly exhaustive list on which seeds are appropriate to sow indoors, sow outdoors, and sow under cloches. Following their suggestions yields year-round produce. It's full of great reminders that January is the time to start planning your crop rotation, February is the time to have your soil tested, March is the month to begin the soil amendments and April is the time to begin hardening off. What? you don't know what "hardening off" means? You really need to buy this book!

Celebration : a Washington cookbook

A charming book with elegant receipes mixed with local lore.I stumbled on this book at an estate sale. It is currently out of print, but I highly recommend adding this one to your collection. The author was chef to the Governor, Booth Gardner. The recipes were served at many a dinner party and can be easily mastered for your own entertaining. Wine suggestions are also included for each receipe. All throughout the book are interesting facts about Washington State and beautiful photographs and art work. All in all, I found this book charming, entertaining, and full of great recipes.
